[Uwh-announce] CHIEF REFEREES REPORT

Hi all,

I thought I would take the opportunity to email all members regarding the refereeing this pennant.
Tasmania is very lucky to have a reffing community which includes some of the most qualified and experienced refs in world hockey.
They are the core of the 19 guild refs, who share the load of pennant games.
There were 2 tribunals due to poor player behaviour.  No further incidents were reported during the pennant however, it is imperative that we have self-discipline and display appropriate behaviour as poor behaviour affects the integrity of the sport and will cause people to not want to play.

I held 2 introductory ref's courses during the year with 18 people attending and next year I would like to expand the courses to a Level 1.
A great suggestion received was to have a virtual "how to ref" course on Facebook. This would initially focus on the mechanics of reffing rather than the rules and then go into the rule book as things progressed.
The courses are all about educating all of us in reffing in both the rules and the how tos.

A huge thanks to all the guild refs and to the TUHA community for supporting them and I encourage everyone to have a go at guild reffing.  I would like to encourage the juniors to get in and have a go at reffing as well.  There are plenty of experienced members that can guide you.
