[Uwh-announce] Annual General Meeting

Hi TUHA members,
Apologies for the long email.

The Annual General Meeting for the Tasmanian Underwater Hockey Association will be held on 11 November 2020 at 7:53 in-between the first and second games. The draft minutes from 2019 is attached.

All Committee positions will become vacant and a new Committee will be elected.

Positions are:

*       president

*       vice-president

*       treasurer

*       secretary

*       chief referee

*       equipment officer

*       development officer

*       media officer

*       social director

*       webmaster

*       two general committee members


PLEASE NOTE
At this AGM there will be a special resolution to pass changes to the Association's Constitution.
The Committee is seeking feedback prior to the AGM on the changes to the Constitution.
Background:
The Constitution is a set of rules or guidelines outlining how TUHA and its members should operate. We can use the Model Rules set by legislation or amend the model rules to form our own rules.
Current Constitution:
The current Constitution is outdated due to changes made to the Model Rules in 2017.
The current Constitution is at odds with the rules in many cases. Where there is conflict between the Constitution and the Model Rules, the Model Rules prevails.
Proposed Constitution:
The main changes to the Constitution are as follows:

*       A complete revamp to modernise and follow the Model Rules more closely.

*       Enable the Association to use electronic banking which was a change to the Model Rules in 2017 but has not flowed through to our Constitution.

*       Update the Committee member positions to more closely resemble the current make up.

*       Update the types of memberships that are currently being used.

*       Explicitly state that the Model Rules do not apply to TUHA. (However it does follow the Model Rules as much as possible.)
