On behalf of the Australian Age Team Management for the 2019 Age Group Championships –



Hi everyone!

Australian Underwater Hockey Team Nominations are now officially open for the Age Group World Championship in Sheffield England next August.

New Age Groups and Eligibility Guidelines
On the 23rd of December 2018, in a bid to build Underwater Hockey and align with the Global Association of International Sports Federations and the International Olympic Committee, CMAS declared new age divisions for Underwater Hockey at a world level. Attached to this email, you will find the official declaration (with further explanation) from our Director of the Underwater Hockey Commission, João José.
Following these guidelines, we will be hoping to select a women’s team and a men’s team in both the new U19 & U24 divisions.
Division Eligibility

1.    Both U19 Men’s and Women’s age categories are 15-18 years inclusive

2.    Both U24 Men’s and Women’s age categories are 19-23 years inclusive

3.    The athletic age of a competitor is obtained by subtracting the year of birth from the current year. The competitor will compete from January 1 to December 31 of the year in this category.

4.    Age Exceptions: A player whose age place him/her in the Under-19 division may compete in Under-24 only if he or she is 18 years of age (adult) from January 1 to December 31.

How to nominate....

Please read through the attached information pack first.

For an official nomination we will need ALL of the following by the 21st Jan 2019...

  2.  SIGNED PLAYER CONTRACT (A copy can be found within the attached information pack)
  3.  DEPOSIT OF $500 RECEIVED
  4.  COPY/PHOTO OF PASSPORT (Or notification of intention to obtain/renew)

So to recap, your nomination will only be complete once ALL of the above has been received by the due date.

Update - U19 Training Camp 25-26 Jan (RSVP needed by the 10th Jan 2019)...

The response to our billet request for the U19 Cairns Camp has been, well,  rather modest, though I dare say our fabulous Cairns crew are flat out with all the responsibilities that come with organising a National Championship. Billeting after hosting a Nationals is a rather a tall order.

If we are unable to raise enough billets alternative arrangements will be made, in the meantime though we need to get clearer numbers of those who actually require accommodation/supervision/board/transport.

As there are some that are travelling with their family, some minors travelling with their state team and some that are 18+ years the requirements are rather individual.

If you are planning on attending the camp, especially if require accommodation, please ensure you fill out the online nomination ASAP as it contains an RSVP section for the camp.
