 Information sheet re. Australian teams going to the 20th CMAS Underwater Hockey World Championships Quebec City,Canada 19-28 July 2018

THE EVENT & ARRANGEMENTS

 The HSQ (Hockey Subaquatique Québec) is hosting the world’s best underwater hockey players  at  " the Sports and Physical Education Pavilion Pool (Pavillon d’éducation physique et des sports (PEPS) pool), located at the heart of Université Laval campus, Quebec City, Province of Quebec, Canada” from 19-28 July 2018.

The Elite teams have booked a pre competition camp 14-17th July at the venue and so must arrive by 13th July. The Masters teams will need to arrive by 18th July to attend  the opening ceremony .

SELECTIONS

In order to be eligible to be selected in any team players must:
1.       Complete an online google form  https://goo.gl/pxrxAK  (on mobile, tablet or computer)

AND
2.       Pay a $600 deposit by 8th Jan 2018 to:

The deposit is vital so we can pay for accommodation and competition fees (due early Feb 2018)

                                Players not selected will be refunded their deposit (minus any costs associated with attended training camps).



Selection for all teams will be held in Perth following the Nationals Finals on Saturday afternoon 13th Jan.

Elite teams will have compulsory training  on Sunday afternoon(12-6pm) 14 January 2018 and  Monday morning (8-12pm) 15 January 2018.

NOTE according to this criteria:
·  All athletes in the Australian UWH development teams program shall be considered if they meet the eligibility criteria but must still submit an online form and pay their deposit.
·  All other athletes wishing to be considered for selection for the world team will need to provide details of their experience and current skills and supporting evidence of their current physical and personal characteristics.

Exact dates and details regarding Elite training camps will be available by early next year. However at this stage camp 1 is expected to be 3/4 March 2018 in Sydney at Homebush (to be confirmed ).

Please note attendance at all training camps is compulsory for elite players .



PROVISIONAL BUDGET

 At this stage elite player’s total individual costs are estimated to be around $5,500 including  airfares, training camps, accommodation, competition fees, car hire and uniforms. This is only approximate at this stage and dependant on exchange rates and actual costs.

Masters costs are estimated to be around $1,000 less also depending on arrival time in Quebec

Airfares to training .camps will be equalised as occurred in 2017.

Airfare quotes to Quebec currently vary significantly (return fares from $3,500 with Air Canada via Vancouver to $1,800 with United via LAX). It is expected that only the portion to the departure port from Australia will be equalised.

It is estimated that we will require a total of about $2,615 from each player. A payment schedule has been worked out to allow us to pay the bills on time (so we don’t  get penalised). The final payment and reconciled refund will vary between individuals.
  Deposit 10th Jan 2018 prior to Nationals     $600

  2nd Payment 10th March 2018                    $700

  3rd Payment 10th April 2018                       $700

  Final Payment 10th May 2018 (variable)    $615
  TOTAL TO BE PAID                                 $2,615
  Refund 10th Sept reconcile                      -$100


Note -This does not include the cost of airfares (training camps or airfare to Quebec).

Payment can be organised via ASF but the payment schedule must be met and will be reimbursed when the ASF monies are received. More information will be sent to those interested.

We will also use google forms to gather information regarding uniforms, flight details and accommodation requirements as planning develops.
