Hi Everyone,
A few reminders:

  1. If your team is listed to be on set-up for the evening, then you are responsible for getting all equipment out of the gear cage and setting it up!!! Captains, please make sure you have enough people from your team at the pool early to ensure we are able to start the game on time!
     * Captains of other teams playing in the first game time slot - you are also responsible for ensuring the walls are in so that the games can start on time. Please ensure that YOUR team is at the pool early enough to help with this.
  2. Teams listed for refereeing duties: Please assume that you will need to supply all 3 water referees and the deck referee!
     * If the guild referees are able to attend, then obviously that will reduce the number of referees you have to put into the water, but they are volunteers, and they may not be able to make it at short notice. It will be your team that loses points for not supplying referees, if there are not 3 water referees and a deck referee ready to go by the time the game is scheduled to start.
     * Note; I have asked guild refs to let you know if they will be unable to make it (or to find a replacement guild ref if possible), but I can't guarantee that will always happen.
  3. The duties of the deck referees are listed below (and are on the scoresheets, as well!). Captains of refereeing teams - please ensure your deck referees fulfil these as required. Your team may lose points if these are not done.

SCORER'S DUTIES
If acting as poolside referee/scorer for any TUHA pennant game, you are responsible for performing the following duties:

Before and during the game:
a)  Ensure team sheet for the game has been filled in completely by both teams at the time the game commences - listing only players they have in the water for that game.  If the sheet is empty, or appears to be incompletely filled in, ask the Captain on each team for team names to ensure all are recorded.  If the score sheet has NOT been completed fully, please note this fact in the 'Scorer's Comments section below;

b)  Record the names of the in-water referees (team ref. & referees guild ref/s), and record your own name as poolside referee.  If either or both in water referees do not show up, or are late for the game, it is important that this is also recorded below;

c)  Record all goals scored during the game - against the name of the goal scorer;

d)  Operate any sounding system in use, and watch for fouls committed by players at the surface.  You should stop play and notify an in-water referee if an infringement is observed;

e) Time duration of expulsions for any player ejected from the water by a referee, notifying the player when they are able to re-enter the water (NB. the expulsion time does not commence until the player is completely out of the water). If a player is expelled from the game, you must record the duration of the expulsion next to their name in the column marked "Kick outs".

After the game:
a)  Ask each team Captain to name their 2 best players, and record these in the column marked "Paper";

b)  Ask both Captains to rate the refereeing out of 5 (5 being best), and record this in the appropriate place on the scoresheet;

c) Ask the water referees to nominate the 3 best and fairest players (3, 2, 1) for the game, and record these in the appropriate column (B&F), next to the player's names.

d) Ask water referees if they feel a bonus 'fair play point'is warranted or not. All referees (including deck ref) must agree agree on whether each team deserves one. This should be given unless any referee felt intimidated by any player during the game, or observed any 'nasty' play such as fighting, swearing etc). In any such case do not award it, and note a brief reason on the team sheet.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Cheers,

Simon
