Hi Guys - this is different to the State team coach email I sent a moment ago :)

The committee are currently grappling with a number of issues that have the potential to significantly impact on our sport. A few of these are listed below, and I'm hopeful that some of you might be willing to put your hands up to help reverse these trends :)

  *   Falling player numbers overall
  * A decrease in players using the Monday night trainings
  * Declining playing standards within the current grades (all of them! :) ), and
  * Players reporting difficulties in transitioning to higher grades where they are interested in doing so (this is particularly a problem for school players).

In the distant past we used to provide an A grade coach for ALL school teams, and on occasions we have also had these for C and B grade teams as well. This has always resulted in big improvements in all of the areas listed in my dot points above.

To that end, we are seeking expressions of interest from current TUHA members who are willing to put their hand up to coach a team.
We will need coaches for (hopefully) 6 school teams, as well as for the existing C grade teams and B grade teams - where these teams are actually interested in having a coach :)

You don't need to be a member of a State team to fill one of these roles - although it certainly won't hurt if you have some idea of player positioning and 'good' playing styles :)
What is far more important is that you have a love for the sport of underwater hockey, and an ability to communicate your enthusiasm with others and assist them to improve their play.

The school competition will now be played in the early time slots on Wednesday nights, and it would be fantastic if we can get some of the current crop of junior team players to coach these teams (coaching usually helps people to improve their own games, as well!).
If you are interested, but a little unsure of your ability to do the job, please let me know anyway, as we will definitely be able to find people to assist you.

Anyway, if interested, please email me noting what grade you are willing to help out in, and we'll go from there.

Hope to hear from some of you soon :)

Thanks,

Simon Talbot
