[Uwh-announce] Feedback from AUS UWH Meeting @ Nationals

Good morning all.
To start with I congratulate all players who competed or officiated at this year's Nationals. Tasmania had a team in every grand final and the Women won gold, the Men, Masters, U19 and U15 won Silver. Well done all.

There was a meeting of the Australian UWH committee at the last Nationals, I will circulate the minutes when I get them but here are a few relevant points for you all:
Nick Martyn is now the games commissioner (Craig MacKenzie resigned).
Rees Quilford is still our Director but is being shadowed by John Bridley with the aim of John taking over.
Nathan Parsons is still acting as coaching Director (anyone interested?).

Australian Teams;
Age group team manager is Sandra Milner.
Coaches for the U23 and Nick Martyn and Nina Barry-Macaulay, the U19 is and Steve Cleary and Chris Wenman.
Senior teams;
Men's coach is Stewart Parkinson and we have no applications for the Women's team.

International Tournament Schedule is:

*         2014 Aged Group Trans-Tasman

1.       Wellington New Zealand 5th to the 13th July.

*         2015 Asian Games

1.       Aus, NZ possible SA and Asian teams in Singapore.

*         2015 Aged Group World Championships

1.       Spain is the currently rumoured host.

*         2016 Elite & Masters World Championships

1.       Possibly in South Africa.


There is a proposal for a club Championship (organised by Rees Quilford) to be held in October to give teams an experience of playing at a National level. There are proposed to be A, B and C grade teams. Location is yet to be advised but it is planned to be a fun, but hard tournament (yes Grizzlies you can take on the rest of Australia).

When we are having a come and try night we need to get new players to sign the waiver (attached to this message).

The next Nationals will be in New South Wales, subject to a suitable pool being secured.
