Hi Guys and Girls,

This is a call for nominations for the selectors roles for the Australian Women's and Men's teams with selections to be held at the Nationals in QLD for all teams except the U19 Men's.

What we are looking for is 3 selectors for the Women's teams and 3 selectors for the Men's teams to ensure consistency between selections of the U19 and U23 teams.

Selectors need to be players, preferably with Australian representation experience at a Senior level however this is not essential, they are required to be flexible and assist the coaches of each team in the selection of their respective squads against the pre-agreed set of criteria, said criteria will be distributed to players and selectors prior to selections.

Where a squad is selected it is preferably that the selectors remain the same for any down-selection process during a subsequent training camp, cost of travel to these training camps is something to be looked at by the committee at the next meeting to be held at the Nationals (Rees please add to the agenda).  When appointing selectors if possible, dependant on the nominations received, the selectors will be from different states to provide as impartial a selector panel as possible.

Coaches will not have a say in the selection of non-selection of players in the normal scheme of things, selectors will assess each player on the merits with the Coach only consulted where the selectors believe they have two players of similar skill level and are unable to determine which player should be included in the team, however this is an exception not the rule.

With regards to the U19 Men's team, Steve Cleary is unable to attend the nationals this year, as such the team selection will occur at the first training camp, tbc but estimated to be around March, all U19 Men interested in selection and attending the 2014 International Competition will be required to nominate their intent to Sandra, Junior Team Manager, by a date to be announced during the Nationals and be prepared to attend the training/selection camp date/location tbc.  Selectors for the Men's teams would be required to attend the training camp, in consultation with Steve, to provide the required impartial selection process the other teams will be provided with at Nationals.

Where teams select a large squad and intend to select the final team at a training camp, the U19 and U23 training camps will be schedule to coincide where possible to reduce the travel burden on selectors.
