Hi All,
I'm back. for those of you interstate, feel free to pass this on!

I have vague memories of addressing this waaay back when-Twice. so,
unfortunately, it seems we all need a reminder as to why the sin bin is
needed, and how to dodge said sin bin.

I'll cover off two areas - Dangerous flicks/play, and Agro/Retaliation.

Dnagerous flicks- what of it you ask? Well the at the recent worlds in
Hungary, this was discussed at length, to the point where the decision made
was ANY flick that contacted the body constituted a dangerous flick, and
therefore a 5 minute sin bin. Well, that's how some refs took it. what they
failed to hear was the prefix of "intentional".

Basically, if you line up somebody and flick a puck at them where it hurts
intentionally, I ask all refs to dish out a 5 minute rest.

This also applies to blind flicks. If you flick a puck without looking
first where its going and if it hits somebody in a dangerous manner, then
sin bin away! It's irresponsible. Now it is up to the refs to determine if
it was A-blind and B-dangerous. Refs call.

And yes there are the unintentional ones, and I tend to think that these
need to be assessed by the refs at hand. I know what the rules state, and
its the refs who have to interpret those rules.

Most importantly, the VERY FIRST thing you should do when a dangerous flick
contacts, is check the welfare of the recipient!

Now to Agro- Agro is a trumped up bathmat that should stay buried in the
early nineties "Cartoon Connection". not sure what I'm taling about?
youtube it.

The only winner from Agro, and retaliation, is the side of the pool
which gets warmer from players butts in the sin bin. Retaliation
is the worst. If you feel hard done by, YOU HAVE A CHOICE not to retaliate.
I personally feel that retaliation is worse than the original infringement,
as you choose to do it. And therefore you actively choose to get sin
binned. Let the refs do their job. and if you think they aren't, come and
chat to me, or your local chief ref . And in the case of last night where
it was me- unacceptable, so I apologise now to the player who I got agro
with.

So play hard, play fair and play on.

As always:
*Regardless of what you think of the call, it's what it is. Live with it,
and move on.*
See you all poolside!
