Hello all players.
There is no schools or training tonight due to the public holiday.
I have to remind players that inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated in our sport.
I have had complaints recently from a variety of players where un-duly rough play has resulted in an injury. This should not be occurring as it is putting players off and some are leaving our sport. If your team is several goals up and looking like winning easily, do not try to rack up as many goals as you can but practice your skills and team work to help prepare the team for the harder games. This my de-moralise the opposition but will stop blood in the pool.
Another issue that has re-surfaced is the behaviour of players and officials both in and out of the pool. We are guests in the pool complex and must abide by the rules (i.e no swearing). If you have a disagreement with another person / player please keep any interactions low key. If another person within the complex hears something they perceive as swearing / abusive / intimidating they can complain and the perpetrator may be excluded from the complex.
What we all have to remember is that it is how others perceive our actions that is important. You may not intend to be derogatory or intimidating but if you come across that way you may be subject to disiplinary action. This can be bans under our rules system, or more seriously, under the pool complexes. Recently a senior player argued a point with pool staff, the player thought that they were just trying to get thier opinion across but due to the way it was said the staf member, and others, thought that the players behaviour was inappropriate. That player is now banned from the complex for two weeks.
I support bans such as these as we need to maintain the good name of our sport to help us retain the player base we currently have and attract new players.
I someone is behaving inappropriately, tell them, they may not realise they are coming across that way.
All the best.
Mark Lewis
