[Uwh-announce] Rule of the Week-Paying your subs (Is that even a rule??)

Hi All,

I know I've strayed recently from specific rules, and generalised this a bit, but hang in there, I'll get back to the true grit of rules a bit later. After all, we have the rest of the year.

So this week is a quick look at what happens if you don't pay your subs on time, and what happens if you try to recruit by stealth. Also this coming week is D Day for paying subs for anybody who has played all 5 weeks.

Firstly, paying your subs does quite a few things:

1. Keeps Christian busy. When you pay, thank him for his tireless efforts on the bench

2. The treasurer gets to do extra work-BTW, we need a new one for this year, any takers?

3. The bank balance stays healthy, enabling us to pay the pool hire

4. Last but not least, you prevent your team from a technical forfeit (It's in the bylaws, hence it's technically a rule..........)

How does this work? Well, if you play game number 6, and you haven't paid (or made arrangements to do so), your 10 nil thrashing and percentage boost, plus points for winning, is instantly converted to a 5 Nil loss, no points and a percentage drubbing. It is difficult to overcome one week of this, but it will continue until you sort out the subs.

As always, it will be your team who wears the brunt of it, so might pay to ask around to make sure you are all paid up!

Then there is recruitment by stealth. If you play more than 5 games up (or down for reverse recruits) you are considered a member of that team, and therefore required to pay subs for the second team. This also means that what I've written above applies to the team you are playing for! So again, keep an eye on how many games you play for who, because we will be this pennant.

Don't take this the wrong way, as we are dead keen for all players to strive to improve, and one sure way to do that is to play up a grade as a fill in, and to recruit where possible.

As always:
Regardless of what you think of the call, it's what it is. Live with it, and move on.

See you poolside.
