[Uwh-announce] Last night's AGM outcomes

Hi All,

Your ex-President speaking ......I've kindly been given special allowance for one last uwh-announce message to help ease my withdrawal symptoms.

I don't want to preempt the Minutes from last night's AGM (which will be circulated soon), but for those who were not there I thought you might like to know the main outcomes:

1. Shock horror.....Grizzlies were defeated, after 531 straight wins.  No hang on, that's what came after the AGM and is probably the hottest news from the night!

2. Results of the Committee elections:
President:  Not filled as yet
Vice President:  Chris Cleaver (returned)
Secretary:  Glenn Wickham (returned)
Treasurer:  Rudy Kloser 
Chief Referee:  Nick Martyn  (returned)
Development Officer:  Kaitlyn ten Bensel &  Matt McCartney 
Junior Development Officer:  Ian Shanahan (returned)
Equipment Officer:  Pieter van der Woude (returned)  
Media Officer:  Garry Davidson (returned)
Social Director:  Not filled as yet
Webmaster:  Kaitlyn Higgins
General Committee Members:  Alice van der Woude and Hannah Robert-Tissot

Congratulations to all above, and huge thanks to our new Committee members who thrust their hands into the air last night when honour and duty called.

3.  Hot, hot news.........Since last night we have had a strong expression of interest in the President's position.  Negotiations in progress, primarily over finer points of reserved parking space at Aquatic Centre.  Announcement hopefully possible soon.  If you can't wait for this announcement and want to know right now, please place several crisp notes in greenish denomination into a brownish sealed envelope and post to "Recently Defunct President, TUHA, 7 Devonshire Sq, West Hobart".

4.  I was so stressed out last night about having to finish the AGM and presentations within the 30min window that I forgot to mention a few very important things:
(i)  In my President's Report list of highlights, I forgot to mention the shift from Prince of Wales Hotel to Theatre Royal Hotel as our Place of Gathering/Watering Hole.  The considerable amount of time and effort Jason Whelan put into securing this new pub relationship should not go unrecorded. Cheers Jason. 
(ii) I also forgot to make special mention of Sandra Milner's HUGE contributions to our Association over the past year (on top of the same during the previous year, and the year before that). The number of times Sandra's name appears in my President's report is some indication of how much input she has put into our operations.  And she is not even a Committee Member !!  We would drown without her!.
(iii)  And still on the Milner front,  I forgot to thank John and Sandra (and James and Tom!) for giving us the use of their PA system for last night's meeting.
(iv)  And I forgot to say........ that we should all be EXTREMELY PROUD of the performance of our 9 Juniors players who very recently competed at the Age Worlds in The Netherlands.  In Sandra's own words "It was the most fabulous comp and all games so very very close. Every team in U 19 lost at least two games so there was no stand out team. Any of the top 5 teams could have won
gold. We came 4th out of 9 despite major illness to a number of players. All players performed so well."  And well done to Coach Nick Martyn.
And we should be proud of punch of Simon Talbot's performance too, in the Aust Masters Team, and the Tassie refs  Pieter van der Woude, Simon, and Nick.

Social Director's position still vacant!  Come on,  thrust that hand in the air!!
