Hi All,

1. Our plastic goal trays continue to suffer damage, especially along the front edge of the tray. We are fairly certain the majority of the damage is not being caused by hits from pucks during play but instead caused by rough handling during the movement of the trays from/to the trolley and into/out of the pool. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHEN MOVING THE GOAL TRAYS (and the walls too!) , and PLEASE USE 2 PERSONS when moving the goal trays. AND UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should the goal trays be pushed into the pool and allowed to drop to the pool bottom unsupported by human hands (this crazy activity was witnessed recently). The goal trays are expensive to repair and will soak up lots of TUHA $$ that are better spent on other things.

2. We are still working on a replacement of the timing box. Hopefully that will come soon. In the meantime we will continue to use the 'old' timing unit which only allows a maximum of 15min game time to be set at any one time. So, if your team is down to deck ref a game in Court 1 ( closest to changerooms) you will have responsibility of re-setting the timer for the game you are about to ref and again at half time. In other words PLEASE MAKE YOURSELVES FAMILIAR with the timing system. If you are unsure of the process, please read the instructions on the timer trolley and/or seek help from a Committee member (we are the ones with airs of confidence in our strides).

3. Thank you to everyone who has been doing a fantastic job with set-up on Wed nights. It is so nice to arrive at the pool at 6.50 - 7pm and already see set-up well underway with many hands helping out.
HOWEVER, we still have a big struggle each week getting those walls in on time. The pool staff in general are doing a great job in getting the lane ropes out asap after 7pm, and there is no reason why the walls should not be installed and games ready to start at 7.15pm.

4. This last reminder is something I really didn't expect to have to do....And it's very disappointing that another reminder is necessary. We still receive reliable reports of some players using their Aquatic Centre Membership passes to enter the pool on underwater hockey nights and avoid having to pay our TUHA pool-entry fee. The collection of the entry fees FROM EVERY PLAYER IS ESSENTIAL for covering the pool-hire costs. According to Treasurer Colin Hepher we are currently not fully covering our pool-hire costs. Colin is doing an analysis, with assistance from the Aquatic Centre Management, to determine exactly where and why we are not covering these costs. BE WARNED - IF YOU CONTINUE TO AVOID PAYING TUHA POOL ENTRY FEES, we will know who you are and we will be forced to take action. And it won't be pretty. Speaking of which, does anyone know the whereabouts of the TUHA baseball bats?

Captains, please circulate this message to your team members as some may not be on uwh-announce.

Craig
