Hi All,
As many of you may be aware, ACT (with assistance from NSW) Underwater Hockey is hosting the 2011 Nationals. At a meeting last week of the Committee of Underwater Hockey Australia, ACT put forward a proposal that the 2011 Nationals be held during 22-26 April (i.e. Easter). Why ? Because they have been looking into pool-hire and likely availability of accommodation and the ‘traditional’ time for the Nationals (i.e. January) is bad for both those things. The pool they see as the best option for the Nationals is Tuggeranong Pool, but hiring of the pool at any time during the summer period would involve a very high cost. Accommodation is apparently also a key consideration from point of view of both availability and cost during the summer period compared to those April dates.
The outcome from the UHA Committee meeting was that States would go back to their members and see what the feelings are for this proposal of having the Nationals during that April period. For obvious reasons, ACT need (for their organisational needs but also for the benefit of everyone) to make a decision on the dates for the Nationals as soon as possible.
So, we urge all our Tassie players who expect/hope to be playing in the 2011 Nationals to let us know during this week (and before end of Fri 25th July) how you feel about this proposal for holding the Nationals over Easter next year.

Our TUHA Annual General Meeting this Wed (23rd) will be a good opportunity for some discussion on this issue. So another good reason to attend the AGM at 9pm (after the 2nd semi-finals) at Prince of Wales Hotel, Battery Point.
