<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Firstly, I’d like to welcome aboard the Queenslanders who are now on board in real time with “Rule of the Week”. Apologies if you haven’t read the Part 1 yet, but that’s OK, we can sort that if needed.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Now, back to the Stig. Nope, still can’t use him as a stick. Only because nobody can verify if he is able to float horizontally in the water. And we’ve yet to test if he’d fit in the magic stick box. He can do pretty
much anything, except wear black.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">This week I’m going to look at exactly how much damage can you inflict on another player with your stick? Well, that depends on:</span></p>

</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">How buggered your stick is</span></p>

</span></span></span><span lang="EN-GB">How good you are at fouling and not getting caught</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Quick question: Which of these three points are legitimate game play or acceptable in Hockey?</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Answer: None, zip, nada. Nowt.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">This issue has been raised following a game where the strike resembled a barbers pole. Why was that? Well, the refs didn’t see him getting raked, the sticks were all pretty tired, and well, some of the players knew exactly
where the refs weren’t.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">Sounds like a great game of hockey. Unless of course you are the strike in question. So the point is that when refereeing, you need to keep an eye on the “behind play” antics.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">If you are playing, consider how you’d feel if the same treatment was flung your way. And this, in most cases is exactly what happens and the game rapidly descends into a free for all.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">And then the un-sportsman like calls start, and players get a rest courtesy of the refs and your team mates get really frustrated at trying to resurrect a game with less than 6 players in. There is always an upside: you
will most likely be first shout at the bar afterwards………</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">So, get your sticks off the players, and onto the puck. It’s more rewarding, less damaging, less inflammatory and might be cheaper at the pub.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB"> </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-GB">As always:</span></p>
