G'day all,

we have had a pretty underwhelming response to the tournament invitation
so far, and so if you wish to take part it is important to reply to this
e-mail before Thursday 22nd July. We need to know whether we will have
enough players to run this tournament. If you know that others definitely
plan to attend but they are not in regular e-mail contact, can you also
provide details of that person/persons to us?

Thanks very much,
INVITATION TO an UNDERWATER HOCKEY
TOURNAMENT

TUHA is pleased to announce that the Launceston Aquatic Centre is
sponsoring a one day mixed competition on Sunday 25th July, commencing at
11 am. Participation will only involve a pool entry fee. The aim of the
event will be to stimulate playing interest in Launceston, and to play as
many games as possible. The date falls between the two Hobart pennants,
so is an opportunity for Hobart players to keep/get in shape ready for
pennant 2. It may be a chance for Launceston players to mix it with
players who are used to playing regular structured competition hockey.
The game format will depend upon how many expressions of interest are
received. Teams will be a mix of Hobart and Launceston players, picked on
or just before the day, specifically to get the most even teams as
possible. The event will be very similar to one sponsored by the Hobart
Aquatic Centre two years ago, so probably 20 minute games, with umpires
being supplied by the teams not playing at the time. We would hope to
finish up by about 3.30 pm, but again this will depend on the number of
games/players, etc.

Please consider being a part of this event, and register your interest
with
Garry.Davidson@utas.edu.au
. He may not reply straight away, but will send out regular bulletins
with the participating names, and progress on the competition details.
One obvious part of the arrangements will be to get Hobart people
carpooling up to Launceston, so please indicate whether you need
transport, or whether you are taking your own vehicle and can take others
to and from the event.

Suggestions to help the event be really enjoyable are very
welcome.

PS Note to Launceston players: the regular Tuesday night sessions 7-8pm
are still running and will be a good venue to practice for this
event.
